In 2014, significantly increased inflow of foreign citizens in the Vitebsk region

In Vitebsk region this year registered in 2000 foreign citizens more than the same period of 2013, and a thousand more foreigners were granted residence permits. Such data are voiced Head of Citizenship and Migration Department of Internal Affairs Executive Committee Tatiana Romashova during a round table "Interaction of Bock with the state authorities to assist migrants in detention" held in Vitebsk.

Accordingly, only this year in the area were more than 12 thousand foreign citizens, 5,600 people received a residence permit. Currently in the region there are more than 26 thousand citizens of other states. According to Tatyana Romashova, the increase in this year's significant, especially influenced him influx of migrants from Ukraine.

This year, more than 4500 citizens of the neighboring country are registered in the organs of Citizenship and Migration of the Vitebsk region, about 800 have issued a residence permit. By both measures, the rise 2-fold compared with the same period of 2013.

"I used to have a large flow of people applying for refugee status or subsidiary protection. Of the nearly 300 applications we received a large part - of citizens of Ukraine. But after the duty has been abolished in the issuance of the special permit for employment, the flow of refugee claimants decreased, was significantly more people who are just looking for a house and a job. Only Ukrainians have already issued 337 such permits, "- said Tatiana Romashova.

In general, this year significantly increased the number of foreigners who want to find employment in the territory of Vitebsk region, special permits issued in 1265. Dominated by the same countries as before: Lithuania, Latvia, Moldova, Ukraine. For Russians and Kazakhs do not need special permission. Separate category of foreigners are students - in their region there are more than 2 million, of which 82% are citizens of Turkmenistan.

In addition, Tatiana Romashova noted a steady positive balance of international migration. This year more than 365 people came to take up permanent residence in the Vitebsk region, than left beyond.

Roundtable "Interaction Bock with state authorities to assist migrants in detention" within the framework of the International Committee of the Red Cross "Restoring family links" was held in Vitebsk on 25-26 November. It was attended by a representative of the ICRC Lassie Bertuly BRC representatives from Minsk and regions of Belarus, local authorities, the State Border Committee and its territorial divisions of the Interior Ministry and other stakeholders.
