In connection with African swine fever exports of pork from the Vitebsk region suspended

In connection with the disease of pigs suspended exports of pork from the Vitebsk region. The decision is contained in the indication number 02/2526 of 1 July 2013, published on the website of the Department Veterinary and Food Control of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.

Recall, the outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) is registered in the territory of the village Chapun Ivie Grodno region. Belarusian State Veterinary Center has identified the cause of disease in pigs infected feed, delivered an entrepreneur from outside Belarus and later sold to the population surrounding areas. Belarus has established the headquarters of the Republican anti-EMA, headed by Deputy Prime Minister Mikhail light brown. The Government adopted a decree on additional measures in connection with disease of pigs on private farmsteads citizens in some parts of the country.

The State Veterinary Service asks people "to pay special attention to the maintenance and feeding of pigs in their backyards." Department of Veterinary and Food Supervision Ministry of Agriculture of Belarus, given that African swine fever virus can be transmitted through meat and meat products, recommends that people buy them only in shops and shopping arcade markets where products come only after the passage of the established procedure of veterinary-sanitary examination.

ASF to humans is not dangerous, but in pigs it is not treated and is 100-percent mortality. The only way to eliminate the disease is to destroy the pigs.
