"From the beginning of the year by the statements of employers registered in the area, issued 542 special permit for the right to take up employment in Belarus to foreign citizens and stateless persons from 28 countries - said Tatiana Romashova. - According to the results for the first half of this year, 359 permits were issued and for the same period last year - 248 So obvious upward trend of foreign labor in the region."

To date, work in the Vitebsk region 207 citizens of Ukraine (in last year's summer season of Ukrainian labor migrants also dominated), 136 - China and 77 - Latvia, there are also citizens of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Croatia, Armenia, Poland, Greece and others. Most labor migrants settled in Vitebsk, Polotsk, Novopolotsk, Verkhnedvinsk and Orsha districts.

Foreigners are predominantly employed as seasonal workers in construction, logging industry and agriculture. There is also a target migration flows: from Latvia mainly go to logging and construction, from China - to specific major projects (construction of hydroelectric power station), for which a separate infrastructure and housing. And in the field of agriculture are working mainly immigrants from Ukraine. His role is played by the fact that in rural areas more offers of employment to housing.
